Hautecombe Abbey overlooks the Lac du Bourget. Open all year round (except Tuesdays), it was founded in the 12th century by Cistercian monks. Became the necropolis of the house of Savoy, this abbey houses burials, as well as the last king of Italy Humbert II of Savoy. All nationalities are welcome thanks to the audio-guided tour, which will explain the rich history of the abbey, illustrated by more than 200 statues in marble, stone or gilded wood adorning the thirty or so tombs.
